David Richman has been practicing law for over forty years. His practice is concentrated in litigation, focusing on criminal defense matters - for the most part in white collar crimes - and complex civil dispute resolution, with an emphasis on regulatory violation work before federal agencies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and private securities agencies, such as the National Association of Securities Dealers and the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Richman has appeared in virtually every courthouse in the New York area, as well as adjacent suburban counties.
After beginning his career with the Legal Aid Society in 1965 Mr. Richman joined the staff of the District Attorney of New York County. One year later, he was appointed by Frank Hogan, D.A., to run the Felony Arraignment System. Following the successful launch of this program, Mr. Richman was promoted to the Homicide Bureau where he conducted felony jury trials, including homicide trials.
Mr. Richman left the District Attorney's Office in 1969 to enter private practice with the New York City law firm of Phillips, Nizer, Benjamin, Krim & Ballon.
Several years later, Mr. Richman organized the New York State Organized Crime Task Force, serving as Deputy Attorney General in the Westchester County branch office. Mr. Richman served as co-head of the Attica Prison Riot investigative team.
Thereafter, Mr. Richman served as counsel to State Senator Roy M. Goodman (Manhattan, 26th S.D.) before joining the national transportation firm of Sealand Terminal Corporation. He became President of Sealand in 1981.
In 1986, Mr. Richman joined the international investigative firm - Kroll Associates - before returning to practice law with Dublirer, Haydon, Straci & Victor, where he remained until 1990, when he established his own practice as Counsel to the predecessor firm of Sonnenfeld & Richman LLP.
